Develop • Nourish • Sustain • Practice
New offering for those who have taken the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class and want to continue to deepen the practice and inquiry into mindfulness.
It can be a challenge to keep the practice alive after the initial group experience even when we know mindfulness makes a beneficial and often substantial contribution to our lives. We are creatures of habit and it's easy and common to go back to our usual ways of meeting the moment. We often don't see a way out of our habitual defenses and at some point, tire of this well-worn path.
We are called toward depth and presence. We no longer want to miss our lives. Developing, nourishing and sustaining practice is an alignment of this call.
This group will explore mindfulness that supports clearer seeing of who we take ourselves to be and who we really are. This takes commitment to practice, reflection and study in a supportive group environment with a dedicated guide. The group will provide a robust framework to practice, experiment, study and explore.
This group allows us to feel support of one another as we witness the many ways we see-saw between resistance and open vulnerability to the moment. We are each other. We can be present to our lives.
What to Expect
There will be review of the 8-week mindfulness class and an overview of mindfulness practices and perspectives. You will deepen your commitment to meditation practice. Topics that will be explored are acceptance, loving kindness, emotions, R.A.I.N. (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Not Attach), habits of thinking, self-compassion, and widening the circle of compassion and facing death.
This is a six month group and will meet for 3 hours twice a month beginning Thursday, October 4th. There will be weekly check-ins with a learning partner over the phone or in person. This provides rigor and support for the practice. Prior to the last month, there will be a full day silent retreat on a weekend day. Commitment to the six month program is part of this framework as we learn and support one another.
My role will be that of coach and guide, offering perspective, direction, and insight to assist you in the practice. In the end what most of us want is increased awareness, peace of mind and body, and more ease with what is.
